I wrote a scene and ten pages just poured out of me. A long scene. Having said that, I am extremely worried. What if I crash and burn? I have no idea what I'm doing. This is a huge undertaking. What if I finish it and it's awful? I'm such a novice. The characters come to life for me, but all my flaws as a writer haunt me as I try to pull this all together.
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but so what if you crash and burn. When you finish this, you will have finished something amazing. You say yourself that you're a novice, but that's what's wonderful about this. It leaves a lot of room for error, for correction and for growth. There always has to be a first novel. Whether it succeeds or fails or you quietly tuck it into a drawer, you have taken that first great leap and then cease to be the novice.
